I’m Kati Kreyser. I create and lead personal, secular funeral ceremonies in Berlin and Brandenburg. Entirely in English, or in German and English.

We begin with the person you remember. Their stories, their character, the things that made them who they were.

A farewell that feels personal

First, I listen.Then I find the words.

A familiar saying. A particular habit. A story that still makes you smile. You can tell me about the work they loved, the people who mattered to them and the contradictions that were part of their character.

You don’t need to prepare a complete life story. I listen, ask questions and bring your memories together in a personal eulogy. We also talk about what you would like to share and what should stay between us.

From January 2013 to April 2026, I worked with people living in care homes. That experience continues to shape the way I listen. Today I lead ceremonies for life’s important moments, as a celebrant based in Neuenhagen near Berlin.

The language of your ceremony

Room for everyone’s memories.

01

Entirely in English

From the welcome to the closing words, I lead the ceremony in English. The eulogy, the words that introduce each piece of music and, if you wish, words at the graveside are all included. Our preparation meeting can also take place in English.

02

In German and English

Some relatives may feel most at home in English, others in German. We discuss who will attend and which languages they understand. Then we plan how to share the important memories in both languages, within the time available.

The same fee of €850 including VAT applies to both options.

Step by step

We prepare the farewell together.

01

A first conversation

Tell me the date and place, if you know them, and which languages you would like. I check my availability and we talk about your first questions. If the date is close, please call.

02

Time to remember

We meet in person, usually for two to three hours. We talk about the person who has died, your wishes for the farewell, and the pronunciation of names and familiar expressions.

03

Words, music and a clear plan

I prepare the eulogy from our conversation. Together, we agree on the music, any contributions from relatives or friends, and the order of the ceremony.

04

The day of the ceremony

I lead the farewell, speaking freely from my notes. I bring my own sound equipment and play the chosen music, saved and checked beforehand. If you wish, I also say a few words at the graveside.

A few practical questions

What you may want to know

Can everything take place in English?

Yes. Our preparation meeting and the whole ceremony can take place in English, including words at the graveside. Relatives are also welcome to tell me their memories in German.

How do you bring the two languages together?

We discuss which memories and thoughts need to be understood in both languages. I then plan the use of English and German around the time available. There is no need for two complete speeches one after the other.

Can relatives or friends speak?

Yes. A reading, a memory or a few personal words can be included. We agree where the contribution fits and how guests who speak the other language can follow it. No one has to speak.

Is the ceremony religious?

I lead secular funeral ceremonies. We talk about the music, readings and personal gestures that reflect the person who has died and what matters to your family.

Can I contact you at short notice?

Yes. Please call so I can check my availability. If there are fewer than seven days between your enquiry and the ceremony, the additional fee is €100 including VAT.

A first conversation

You don’t need to haveall the words yet.

Tell me the date and place, if you know them, and whether you would prefer English or both German and English. You are welcome to write to me in English.
